I never imagined that leaning into the beauty and utility of weathered goods would lead to a lesson in radical self-acceptance.

While this event series is a monthly mending session (join one or all), it's also an intentional social gathering: part community building, part skill building, and part creative exploration, all supported via 100% secondhand supplies & tools.

So: grab a few bits from your mending pile (or select one of ours) and let us hook you up with notions & fibers that will add life - and artful expression - to things that have already served us well.

There will be no formal instruction: experimentation and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing are skillsets worth strengthening, so we'll be figuring things out together, perhaps with help & inspiration from a book or three.

Tools and supplies (a generous, diversely-colored assortment of cotton & wool patches & threads, buttons, hooks, needles, scissors, etc.) will be available for use during each event, with additional items also made available for optional, low-key browsing/purchase.

These analog (phones off) events will take place from 6-8pm on the second Thursday evening of each month in Stevens Square, beginning in March 2025. While we'll gather outside as weather conditions permit, our default/backup location is a third story walkup apartment (address shared following class registration), with air quality proactively managed (spacious room, open windows, air filtration), and masks optional/welcome.

Another note on air quality and community health: given that carbon/CO2-e emissions are heavily front-loaded into the pre-consumer phases of any product's environmental lifecycle without regard for societal health or habitat, these classes are facilitated and run using exclusively post-consumer materials and supplies.

Attendees are asked to actively consider the eco impact of their travel mode: walk, bike, and public transit are encouraged (carpool works, too): slow living is good for our brains and souls.

If you'd like to participate but our event cost is prohibitive, please reach out about opportunities to assist with setup, facilitation, etc. The purpose of these gatherings is to foster connection and community, and we'd love to find ways to include you!

This is climate-competent commerce, and we talk a bit more about each of these strategies on our 'official' shipping policy page:

    The Fine Print
  • Proactive Satisfaction + Refunds

We have adopted a 'generally generous' approach to fulfilling many of our product listings, as sending a wee bit extra can avoid costly errors & 'fix it' shipments (besides, we find most folks appreciate the occasional freebie).

    .

That said, if you would prefer to avoid the extras, we will gladly rightsize or downsize your order on request (product price would remain the same because more labor + less product = wash). If you prefer this option, please include a detailed order note to specify the quantity you wish to recieve (i.e. 'please send precise count of 7 for XYZ product').

    .

As a rule, we discourage returns - but we also don't abide crappy customer experiences. To initiate issue resolution in the event that we miss the boat with your order (gaps happen!), head to our refund policy page (linked here - and at the bottom of any page) to get started.
