Junket: Tossed & Found
There’s something about writing thank you notes There’s something about writing thank you notes using pen and ink that makes this both a gratitude practice and a creative one.

The secondhand inks I use are often reconstituted from an old bottle’s dried crusts, printer ink or watercolor. Papers range, too: I focus on working with things that a buyer might not consider purchase-worthy - torn book pages, salvaged bits of old calendars, used envelopes... These thank you notes are a chance to test how secondhand things work together as ‘marriages’ (some more successfully than others).

This particular paper - cut from an old record sleeve - soaked up this particular liquid (watercolor) more than expected. The most recent experiment was an affirmation: a white gel pen helped me get my word back after it bled into a big blue blob, and it seemed like a good reminder that when our results don’t match our intentions, it isn’t often necessary (or even better) to throw the whole thing away and start over: sometimes, a little creative attention will help us restore the integrity of the process and reach satisfying results... #penandink #thankyou #curiosity
Friends, we are slowly but surely finding the sequ Friends, we are slowly but surely finding the sequencing, pacing, and process needed to consistently take product from idea to available:

Aha > research > sourcing (often waiting or patiently accumulating) > sorting/inventory/prepping > styling/photographing > listing > relisting on Facebook’s catalog > adding to Facebook shop > Submitting for approval > waiting 24+ hours > remembering to check for approval > creating Insta/FB post ...

I know because for the first time tonight, I landed the process in sequence from tip to tail (or point to eye, as it were...). Excited to share that we’ve added large, blunt tip needles to the roster - either is a great option for young ones, and the metal ones are yarn darners (size 13) - nice and big for mending/embellishing those thick, wooly cable knits and cushy socks & mittens.

Ground shipping costs likely makes these better as an add on to a bigger order if you’re not within easy driving distance of MN. Please reach out for a shipping discount code if you’re within 250 miles of Minneapolis or for free shipping credit if you’d be down with curbside pickup near the old Minnehaha shop.

We’re continuing to slowly add secondhand-sourced mending/darning/sewing supplies to the Etsy shop - tell us, what else would you like to see listed?

Remember how we said we couldn’t tell which sist Remember how we said we couldn’t tell which sister was Irma and which was Erika? Well, we’re still not entirely sure who holds which name, but thanks to this photo, we do now know that our girl is the elder of the two, and by several years. She also appears to be a bit possessed (or just pissed...the look in those eyes!)... swipe left a couple times to see both women in young adulthood (can you tell them apart?). Quick shout out to Mo, who has taken on a research protect to see if one of the last names on a couple of pictures can help us learn more...
We had fun pulling together a wholesale order of s We had fun pulling together a wholesale order of secondhand-sourced embroidery floss for @rethinktailoring over the weekend! If you’re in Minneapolis, you can choose your preferred colors during limited hours at their Bloomington Ave location. If you’re not in MPLS (or, if you’re as resolute as we are in your #saferathome practices), we’ve got 3-skein colorways and rainbow dozen sets available online for your #saferathome stitching needs. Hoops & needles, too!
