Some tools become obsolete because they stop working.

Others become obsolete because they're simply made differently than they once were.

These Vintage Mitsu-Bishi No. 7600 Dermatograph pencils belong to the second category.

Manufactured in Japan under the earlier "Mitsu-Bishi" branding, these peel-away grease pencils (also known as china markers or dermatograph pencils) were designed to make bold, highly visible marks on smooth, non-porous surfaces—including glass, porcelain, glazed ceramics, metal, plastic, film, and polished stone.

This listing is for one New Old Stock (NOS) light blue dermatograph soft colored pencil, carefully selected from a vintage box of twelve that had remained unopened for decades.

Whether you're restoring vintage equipment, organizing your workshop, labeling fermentation jars, marking photographic materials, or simply appreciate beautifully made writing instruments, these pencils remain as useful today as when they were manufactured decades ago.

You'll receive:

  • One vintage Mitsu-Bishi No. 7600 Dermatograph pencil
  • Light Blue (#8)
  • New Old Stock (unused)
  • Peel-away paper wrapper
  • Made in Japan

Each pencil is original vintage stock—not modern reproduction.

Because these were preserved together in their original box, every example shares the same model, color, and period-correct wrapper design. Minor signs of age from long-term storage are possible, but these pencils have never been put into service. The box is used in these photos for purposes of provenance, and is not included with this purchase.

At Junket, we believe useful materials deserve long lives.

Rather than allowing durable tools to remain forgotten in storage—or replacing them with newly manufactured alternatives—we recover and recirculate original materials that still have years of useful life ahead of them.

Every vintage tool that returns to use represents energy that doesn't need to be spent manufacturing another.

We also ship exclusively by ground when ground is an option, reducing transportation emissions while supporting a slower, more thoughtful approach to commerce.

Slow commerce is a climate solution.

This is climate-competent commerce, and we talk a bit more about each of these strategies on our 'official' shipping policy page:

    The Fine Print
  • Proactive Satisfaction + Refunds

We have adopted a 'generally generous' approach to fulfilling many of our product listings, as sending a wee bit extra can avoid costly errors & 'fix it' shipments (besides, we find most folks appreciate the occasional freebie).

    .

That said, if you would prefer to avoid the extras, we will gladly rightsize or downsize your order on request (product price would remain the same because more labor + less product = wash). If you prefer this option, please include a detailed order note to specify the quantity you wish to recieve (i.e. 'please send precise count of 7 for XYZ product').

    .

As a rule, we discourage returns - but we also don't abide crappy customer experiences. To initiate issue resolution in the event that we miss the boat with your order (gaps happen!), head to our refund policy page (linked here - and at the bottom of any page) to get started.
