Since 2013, the lowly paper clip has been our muse: if we could figure out a scalable & profitable way to manage, package, market & sell these tiny things (so common that few people even notice them on sidewalks—much less anywhere else), we’d have cracked a key barrier to mainstreaming reuse, and could iterate our solutions to offer literally any other tiny thing that capitalist society has deemed not worth the time of tending...

Except they *are* worth tending: with 11 billion paperclips purchased each year by Americans, at a manufacturing footprint of more than 5500 tons of CO2-e, they’re the perfect placeholder tor so many other things that are being needlessly manufactured right now at high costs to our physical health & psychological well-being.

Understanding the manufacturing impact of paperclips was our first step on the journey to quantifying the positive environmental impacts of choosing the most sustainable goods possible (the ones that already exist), and we’re proud to offer them to you as part of our Ethical Office assortment.

The manual labor associated with offering this and other small products by size and type is significant. As we are able to expand our assortment more affordably based on items that come in pre-sorted by size, we will do so. Meanwhile, join us in tending these tiny bits of embodied energy & matter.

Note: 2 ounces of paper clips represents roughly 60-90 clips, depending on size and manufacturing weight. Clips will be a mix of newer and vintage. Packaging will be 100% secondhand.
